Our Story & A Little About Our Farmhouse
Casa Langhe di Mango is found among vine-covered, rolling hills in the very heart of The Langhe.
This wine region is recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site and for good reason. Our views are to die for and the peace and quiet so often sought for holidays is a promise. Lonely Planet voted our beautiful landscape as the Number 1 Travel Destination for 2019. With beautiful small villages, castles and churches all within a stone’s throw, you will find plenty to do and lots to see.
Our farmhouse is set on a private road, nestled into the side of a hill offering incredible views from our terrazzo, courtyard and swimming pool. We are completely surrounded by Moscato vineyards which are managed by our neighbours, who are often around to say hello.
Our recently renovated home has been finished with great care to retain the authenticity of a typical Piemontese farmhouse and with every modern convenience.
Casa Langhe di Mango is an adult destination. Due to considerations for other guests and several safety concerns, we cannot accommodation babies or children under 16 years of age.
As we have a small menagerie of our own, we are also unable to host pets and service animals.
For our local authorities, all guests must provide valid and legal identification.
We have the luxury of being conveniently close to local cantinas, great restaurants, cafes and wine bars. If your passion is food and wine, then you’re definitely in the right place! This region is famous for its excellence in wines, white truffles and some of the most beautiful scenery and villages.
Alba, ‘our big town’, is home to Ferrero Rocher chocolate and boasts no less than 7 Michelin Star restaurants. If the great outdoors is your thing, there are plenty of outdoor activities to keep you occupied. The ‘Bar-to-Bar’ cycling trail meanders through The Langhe hills from Barbaresco to Barolo with a stop 10 minute’s drive away in Neive.
If walking is your interest, Gnomo Via is a beautiful walk of about 5km, starting and finishing in Mango and there are also some other great hiking trails right on our doorstep.
Our Story
To introduce ourselves, we are Genevieve and Tim.
The general consensus from our friends is that
we are two quite mad Aussies who were looking for ‘something different’. We had a nice home, wonderful friends, a
great lifestyle and good jobs in Melbourne but felt that we needed to try something new.
Well, this
is most definitely different and new!
Having travelled widely in a previous lifetime, we tossed around a few options of where to start again and just tumbled onto the idea that Italy might work for us. It was a gamble. Thankfully, this amazing and truly beautiful country has proven to be a great choice. Having spent over 4 years living through renovations and updates on our three houses, two of which we offer as short-term holiday rentals, we are really pleased to be able to offer what we believe is a great place to stay. While all three houses are attached, guests of the two holiday houses are afforded plenty of space and privacy to allow enjoyment of our amazing surroundings.
Our ‘children’ are actually 3 cats and a dog. Our cats are friendly and run the place with gusto. Our dog, Tash, is the ‘meeter and greeter’. She loves people and needs to be involved in everything.
